Show Me: A Wild West Texas Christmas

Posted on

Commercial Christmas decorating for businesses is fun and challenging. Capturing the personality of this bank and interjecting that style into the holidays is what the Miss Cayce’s Show Me Decorating team does best. Christmas design style expert, Kathy Harrison, likes to blend the traditional seasonal colors of red and green with gold, platinum, and bronzes for a masculine rustic look. Earth tones, with wood and limestone set the stage for this romantic Wild West Theme.

Wild West Texas Christmas Tree by Show Me Decorating #showmedecorating #westerntheme #themedchristmastree #christmasdecor

This new bank is involved with the energy oil boom going on here in Midland, and the tree topper reflects that with the oversized metal oil derrick.

Show Me Decorating Tip: Think outside the box and coordinate the tree topper to your theme. The oversized Metal Oil Derrick is designed for home decor, but set on top of this rustic western tree it becomes a perfect tree topper! Your bows for the Show Me Diamond pattern (found on the Show Me Decorating App) start just below the derrick base.

The supporting Christmas ornament collection has metal stars, horses, turquoise crosses, cowboy hats, leather boots, and horses. A traditional plaid dupioni silk ribbon is paired with a cinnamon red burlap flecked in gold and gunmetal jingle bells for an unexpected twist. (Learn to tie a bow here.)

To add the romance to the Christmas tree, large burgundy magnolias, roses, and peonies are mixed with berries and bright green leaves. A nod to the West Texas tumbleweeds is found in the platinum sparkled garland, added to the tree first to create depth in the background. All the metallic colors are represented in the ribbon, ornaments and balls. The matte gold balls are used as the foundation, filling in the Show Me Decorating bow diamond pattern. Pewter jingle bells and red mesh balls are accents.

Show Me Decorating Tip: Choose 1 color of balls as your base background balls and use 3 sizes, largest towards the bottom 1/3 of tree, medium size 3/4 of tree up and smallest all over the tree. The Show Me Decorating Matt Gold balls are considered the "little black dress" of Christmas decor. This one time investment in shatterproof balls can be dressed up with crystal and silver, fun with red lime green, black and white or rustic elegant as seen on this Christmas tree!

The wreath over the fireplace compliments the Christmas tree. The oil derrick is used as the focal point, and a mixture of the same ribbon, balls and florals are the supporting ingredients.

Mixed natural green faux garlands drape the lobby area for a festive but classic look. Coordinating bows compliment and carryout the Christmas theme with a floral pick of pine and pewter jingle bells attached to the center of the bows.

Show Me Decorating Tip: Mix 2 faux green garlands to imitate a fresh roll of greens. Use a plain faux Christmas pine garland and add a mixed pine, cedar and fir garland on top, twisting the the branches together. No messy clean up or falling needles and will last the whole season!

To welcome customers, teardrops with the same combination of ribbon and floral are attached to the gas lanterns outside. Rustic pewter jingle bells and red balls add just the right finishing touch.

Happy Decorating Y'all!
